BRC III vs BSC Bruisers 16.09.2017

BSC Bruisers faced the third team of Berliner Rugby Club e.V. and came away 14:101. We held up well against last season’s unbeaten winner of our regional league division in the first half, but they completely ran away in the second, where we had to concede eleven tries. But we’re well chuffed we managed to score two tries in the second half and we’re looking forward to the next match against USV Halle at home on 08.10.2017.

RU Hohen Neuendorf vs BSC Bruisers 09.09.2017

The Bruisers travelled to Hohen Neuendorf yesterday, for our first away game of the season and our second game against a former 2nd Bundesliga team. Unfortunately the result held little surprise and we lost the match 5:83.
We struggled with our defence in the first half, trailing Hohen Neuendorf 0:57 going into half time. We improved considerably in the second half, consolidating our defence and making a number of good runs in attack, which were rewarded with our first try of the season by captain Peter Sahlström in the 61st minute. All in all a fair result, and many good things to build on as we move forward with the season.

What a great ‘Intro to Rugby’ day

August 13th, 2017|Comments Off on What a great ‘Intro to Rugby’ day

What a great ‘Intro to Rugby’ day we had yesterday. Despite the morning downpour we had over 40 people come to try out rugby for the first time 🙂 It seems we have some very quick learners, as in the touch rugby match we played at the end we had a newbie try and finished with a draw. Was a perfect end to fantastic day!!

Here’s some great images of the day from  Vincent Gehrke – Sportfotografie

If you missed out yesterday, then come to our open trainings every Sunday at Gleisdreieck @ 13.00. Next one is Sun 20th Aug. We always plan exercises that are suitable for every level including absolute beginners. Come on down!!

Bruisers in the Motzstraßenfest and the Berlin Sevens tournament

July 17th, 2017|Comments Off on Bruisers in the Motzstraßenfest and the Berlin Sevens tournament

What a busy weekend this was for the Bruisers!! While half our guys were up at RK03 battling away in the Berlin Sevens tournament, the rest of us were busy working the crowds at Motzstraßenfest – Europe’s largest gay and lesbian street festival.

Up at the Station Buschalle, our boys did us proud, scoring the first try of the tournament and putting in some sterling work against some very stiff opposition. Final placing 14th overall 🙂
Results:

RK 03 Berlin vs Bruisers 38:5
USV Potsdam vs Bruisers 47:0
Platzierungsspiel
Bruisers vs SC Siemensstadt 34:10
Match for place 13
Bruisers vs RK 03 Piraten 19:33

Try scorers:
Juan 5
Greg 2
Tom 2
Freddie 1

Many thanks to Berlin Grizzlies Rugby Club, Berlin Irish RFC e.V., Berliner SV 1892 Rugby, Rugby-Potsdam and Sport Club Siemensstadt Rugby for lending us players when needed!

Meanwhile down at the street fair we we were wooing the crowds – young and old, with our impromptu street rugby, pom-pom juggling and winning smiles.

We had a fantastic response and signed up over 90 people for our upcoming ‘Intro to Rugby’ day on Aug 12th – including 25+ women for a potential Bruisers Women team! Looks like next season will be our best yet
